Which Operating System you love most....and why?

I wanna say Vista Ultimate but ultimately, my answer is Windows XP.

Why ? : Compatibality. I want my work to be done in realiable and effective fashion. Vista Ultimate is nice, eye candy and got all the bell and wisthle, no need to mention dx10. But, some old games and software not fully compatible with it. Things might change in the future. And Vista use too much resources for uber multi tasking machine (even i have 4GB or rams and C2D 2.66 GHz OC at 3.3 GHz). The question is, why should i waste my PC resource to OS if i can use it more efficiently at application using other OS?

Linux (Ubuntu in my case) is an interesting software...but since rose client cant run there....its not my OS of choice.

3 OS in my PC hdd (Vista Ultimate, WinXP SP2 and Linux Ubuntu), 90% i run winxp lol.

why I choose Windows XP?
because we dont have any windows hehehehe.xD
and it is easy to operate..

hate vista... haha some programs that i lurve is not supported in vista os

Vista isn't really stable yet,
It also isn't really compatible with a lot of programs
Or maybe some software.
So the best Operating Sistem would be Windows XP,

vista...if you use the original one, and let the windows update running, actually very stable. I would say, it has better stability than windows XP. My vista ultimate in other PC, never ever restarted for more than 3 months, with numerous update, install and uninstall, testing software. But finally restart when SP1 come and push automatic update to install it.

I define stability by :

No blue screen of death
No performance impact (slow down) over time (without restart)
No application hang which could cause vista crash (Application crash is 3rd party stability issue with vista)
No performance drop over time (even with restart) especially after being abuse with numerious kind of software, games and utilities.
Able to protect it core and kernel files from being changed by 3rd party application including rootkit, virus or bad tuning application.

Of cause i meant original ==..

My way of defining stability is different than yours..

The way i define it is,

Software
Hardware

Those kind of stuff ><

I'd definitely say XP, since it's compatible with nearly everything, and it's best for games. Vista isn't really that good ~_~;;

Really good programs are on XP that aren't compatible with vista... and XP is faster! :O

Ughh, my computer is really slow, and it's vista.. *cough*

Id choose compatibility over stability first. My Windows XP is quite stable as well and I have no problem running any programs. As for Vista, it is still relatively knew so alot of people cannot go over to it cuz of the number of programs that they need to use, not to mention little add-ons and such. Windows XP ftw.

Linux or XP... :/
I choose XP, just because it has a huge compability.

Well as i can see almost all internet cafe at our place always use Windows XP since it is good for those Game's and can be easily learn lol

Not alot of things are compatibile with it now, though.
But the thing is like XP, just takes up really really REALLY little space on the HDD and costs like nothing to run.
I don't really like the colour schemes and whatnot on it though, but there are probabaly things you can download to alter its looks.
But for gaming, windows 2k *was* the best. Too bad some things don't work with it now =/

I vote for Windows XP, Vista isn't that great..It consumes Alot of the comp's RAM.
Especially if you have a laptop. =/

What's the thing with laptop?
For faster games you need both a graphic card and some good amount of RAM.
However it's lucky that this game does not require much

Muazzy, you can disable the run as admin thing xP
Goto Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety >.... Somewhere in there, look for "Turn User Account Control(UAC) on or off" thingy. Just disbaled that, and everything will run without needing admin/without prompting you.

you do understand you can disable run as administrator. and if you have a decent computer it only uses like 5% ram XD

XP is the best.
Vista only for performance

7I love windows 7. It is Vista on steroid.

in the age of 8GB of rams, quad core processor and 2 TB of hdd.. Win7 requirement look like nothing much.

Who said winxp is best for games? It was. Note the past tense.
All new and advance pc games require dx10 if not dx11 to show its true potential and sad but true, winxp only support up to dx9.0c.

However, old games run better in winxp.

lol.. windows xp also have updates, we may update it...
And some games are not capable at Vista that's why we voted Windows XP. ^_^

It's pretty, yet faster than vista. At the moment in it's unreleased state it randomly restarts itself and it can't play any game with gameguard, buuut... I'm sure they'll fix that later.
It's performance is also amazing. I can restart my computer in less than 30 seconds, and my FPS in games is much steadier and higher than it was while using Vista (probably no brainer there, but, still XD). Seems to use up less CPU speed, and definitely less RAM and HDD space.

Dudes all I have is Vista
So I go with Vista

My Win7 version 7077 and 7100 RC never face any self restart, or BSOD yet..... even my PC run 24 / 7.

I rate win7 even in RC form is more stable than winvista ultimate. Just make sure you use proper driver.
