1.1 Made a few adjustments and corrections. Also added some more info on certain parts of the guide.
1.0 First guide written.
Prelude
-----
Firstly, this guide is made totally by me, based entirely on
experience and hearsay. That means that it is not entirely tested and
proven but I will say that theoretically it is sound and I'm doing
pretty well. At the time that I write this guide, I am a 42 muse who
has more or less gone through what is written here with a few minor
differences. Given a choice, I'd like to reset my muse to follow
exactly as in this guide, but I can't. This is just here to tell you
that I’m not 100% certain this build will own when you hit lvl 150+ so
use it at your discretion.
This build is 100% support. Meaning in any party almost 100% of the
time you will either be buffing/healing. However, you will be very
crucial to the survival of the party, and I guarantee people will be
fighting to party you or have you in their clan.
Stats
-----
I'm not going into detail about what each stat does. There are too
many places which you can check it out. For this build I recommend the
following stats:
STR: High
DEX: Default
INT: High
CON: Default
CHA: Default
SEN: Default
A variation of this would be to add a little bit of CON at early level to help make leveling easier (I did)
Now the reason for this build is simple. You need high INT because of a few things.
1) High INT maximises ur max mp. This is VERY important as an FS
muse/Cleric because you need A LOT of mana to survive. Having Orange
Juices might help, but I can almost guarantee that in the heat of
things it's better to simply have a huge pool to draw from.
2) High INT increases the ability of your skills. Although I've
tested it and the increase is minor (at my level) it may very well make
a significant difference at a higher level. Nontheless, having higher
increase in stat buffs will definitely help.
You also want high STR for the following two reasons:
1) You need a very large HP pool. Big HP means you can get hit more
and be able to survive. You also have more than enough time to heal
yourself if you're hit continuously.
2) You need the extra defence. Sure, Blessing Armour is good, but
high STR + Blessing Armour will make you very hard to damage
significantly
As a support character, your job is NOT TO DIE because you have to
SUPPORT your team mates. If you die, you have to be the last or the
second last (after the tanker) to die because at later levels, you can
revive your team mates. You CANNOT revive them if you die first. So the
ability to survive is VERY important for a Full Support character.
DEX: A note on dex. While I agree that at earlier levels DEX is
much better to help you evade attacks and thus saves you from being
hit, I know and I know and I know that at later levels, enemies get
tougher and tougher till full DEX hawkers too get hit quite often.
Assuming PVP, an FS muse/cleric with dex would go down much faster
being hit by a fully buffed dealer (high CON) and with probably a few
shots only. You will hardly have time to heal yourself much less your
team mates. I'd personally prefer to be able to survive standing and
cure myself repeatedly to the point I can't die. So I DO NOT recommend
DEX for FS muse/cleric.
Start by pumping INT. You can level quite ok the first few levels.
As you progress, and you start dieing often, you can start pumping STR.
I won't say exactly when to start pumping as it will depend on your
method of leveling. Assuming you level in parties and you're not in the
heat of battle most of the time, then keep pumping INT. However, if you
find yourself soloing more, start getting STR earlier.
Skills
-----
This one is simple enough. Get skills in the Meditation tree.
Recommended Skills
Muse
10 Meditation
5 Cure
4 Support
5 Power Support
5 Heal
3 Hit Support
5 Blessing Body
5 Blessing Armour
1 BonFire
For obvious reasons, these are in the Meditation Tree. Don't max
out every skill beforehand... as you level, get only the skills which
you use. This will depend on your method of leveling. If you party a
lot, get Heal instead of maxing cure. If you solo, get Blessing Armour.
Again, I can't tell you which skill to pump first because it all
depends on how you want to level.
Now once you have the above skills, you might want to get Blessing
Mind. It's not particularly useful IMHO, but it's a requirement for
some of the best Cleric skills.
Cleric
20 Meditation
10 Cure
XX Support
10 Power Support
10 Heal
10 Hit Support
10 Blessing Body
10 Blessing Armour
10 Defence Aura
10 Magical Aura
10 Evasion Aura
10 Sharpen Support
XX Battle Support
XX Damage Support
XX Puri
1 Resurrection
(XX Means I do not know the levels at which they max out but the
assumption is that it's probably good to max except Support which can
be capped at 4)
Again for obvious reasons you'd want to almost max out the skill
tree for Meditation. Almost all skills there are support skills. I
personally think it's wise to stay away from Curse though. If you
intend to also be a status Muse/Cleric then you can get this later.
Other than that, whatever skill points after getting those mentioned
above would be up to you to spend.
Equips
-----
Equips for muses are pretty standard. Just use whatever muse
equipments which you come across and if there are better generic ones
(can be worn by anyone) use them. Armour, hats, gloves and shoes are
common enough drops or if not, are easily available in shops. Use them
according to your level. Don't upgrade them unless you're absolutely
certain you want to keep a particular equipment and use it for a very
long time. I do not recommend it till you are at least lvl 50. However,
you can do what you like if you have the zuly to burn.
I do want to say that FS muses/Clerics should have WINGS. This is
simply to help you run faster and escape mobs faster. Also, it looks
cool.
Muses are the only class which can wear these wings, so progress from
butterfly to little angel to angel and ultimately seraphim wings (if
you call them that). The movement speed added to it is good to get away
from tight situations.
For muses and clerics, you might want to use wands instead of
staffs. The reason is simply that you can hold a shield if you use a
wand. Wands increase your MP recovery and shields give you extra
defence. As mentioned earlier, surviving is much more important then
anything else. So try to use a wand instead of a staff. Range attacks
also help you to 'contribute' without risking a lost of 3% or worse,
the whole party.
Use equips that add to either STR or INT. Good accessories to get
are those that increase Magic resistance. Again, it helps you to stay
alive.
Leveling
-----
If you want to start from scratch, I'm not going to tell you what
to do exactly. Simply hit level 10 and change to a muse. There are
plenty of guides to tell you how to do it. You can reset your stats
before you hit level 15, so make use of that ability and level faster.
Once you get your skills, try to party and focus on support more than
anything because you won't be doing significantly a lot of damage as
compared to say a Soldier. Keeping that soldier alive and allowing him
to go on a rampage will probably get you more experience in the long
run.
Have a good attitude. Your job is to support, not to tank, at least
not when you're at a low level. So focus on supporting instead of
getting the kill. It's going to be a slow tedious process and you won't
get much drops (unless your party members are nice and share them). But
on the bright side, you don't need to spend on Kiwis, Meat or Potions.
You can also solo if you want, but it gets slow as you progress to
higher levels. Start at the Hill of Wind till about level 2X. Then head
to Aqua King. It's laggy but all you need is a hit or two to gain the
exp. Watch out though, they seem inclined to target muses. (Almost all
bosses do) You can level pretty fast here till about level 3X and
beyond. If you hit 40, you can go straight to Forest of Wisdom and get
Guardian Trees. Same concept. Even so, I recommend that you party
people as they can help you gain exp faster. A windstorm muse or a good
soldier with blood can take out the mobs and give tonnes of exp. But
don't forget that your primary aim is to support them, so keep them
alive for them to do more damage.
Ethics
-----
As a FS muse, I understand that sometimes it's irritating when
people go around asking for buffs etc. But I think that if it's not
inconvenient, just give them a buff. It makes them happy, stops them
tormenting you, and you just might get a good leveling friend. Always
remember that as a supporting character, you should do just that. And
trust me, people appreciate it.
Quests
-----
For questing, it's a little difficult for an FS muse to pull of
quests solo. However, with the help of some people you might just be
able to do it. If you get mobbed, get first hit, then heal yourself.
Remember to buff yourself (Blessing Body/Armour) before hand. Try to
get your friends to get rid of the mob targeting you if there is one.
Don't forget to keep your target or else you might lose the quest item.
I keep a Mask handy to pop on when I'm questing. Take it off when
leveling though; it keeps you from getting unwanted attention.
AOB
-----
I think that's about all I can write now. I'll update it
periodically if there's anything to add. This guide is not copyrighted,
but if you do want to distribute it, please give credit where it's due.
Do NOT make changes, add or remove anything from this guide if you want
to do so. Happy Supporting!
